The Klipsch Mode noise canceling headphones are great for traveling because they're comfortable, light weight, & sound outstanding.
These headphones are very comfortable. The ear pads are made of memory foam, so they're built to be used for many consecutive hours. The Modes are a full size headphone, so they are beefy enough that you don't need to worry about them breaking. Since they are made out of an impact resistant plastic, they are also very lightweight.
How do they sound? Awesome, like all Klipsch products. The bass on these headphones is very crisp & natural sounding. It doesn't sound forced as on other noise canceling headphones. Just like the Klipsch Reference One, the mids on the Modes sounds very good. However, the highs on the Modes sound absolutely phenomenal! Bottom line, in the sound department the Klipsch Modes are surely one of the best noise canceling headphones available.
The Klipsch Mode are designed to be the best travel headphones. They fold down into half the size, which fit perfectly in the microfiber pouch, and semi-hard leather case. Unlike some of the other models of noise canceling headphones, the Klipsch Mode have a strong folding action. Other noise canceling headphones may seem delicate because of thin hinges, but the Klipsch Mode have a very strong hinge so they compress with ease. So don't worry, it won't feel like you're about the snap your headphones in half when you put them away.
One of the most important features of the Klipsch Mode is the Active Noise Canceling technology. The noise canceling works very well, which is surely aided by the snug fit of the Mode thanks to the memory foam to keep an isolated listening environment. Most noise canceling headphones are powered by rechargable batteries, which is helpful. Although, the harsh reality is that nobody ever remembers to charge them & who wants to carry around a cord. The Klipsch Mode noise canceling headphones are powered by one AAA battery. The battery powers the noise canceling for 48 hours, which is enough for a few trips. The headphones function perfectly fine when the batteries die, but since a AAA battery is so compact you could easily throw one in your bag to cover you for close to 100 hours with no charging.
For $349, these noise canceling headphones are a great deal. Klipsch has always been able to produce exceptional sound in their headphones and earphones. Another headphone by Klipsch, the Reference One headphones, out performed many headphones twice their price. As an additional headphone to the Klipsch collection, it's not surprising these great looking noise canceling headphones sound incredible. Based off sound alone, these are some of the best noise canceling headphones in the world. Add in all of the accessories, the iPhone, iPod, & iPad connectivity and the Klipsch Mode are one of the best buys of 2012.
